From the desk of Fire Chief James E. LeBlanc...

2009 has been busy year for the St. Amant Fire Department. The amount of calls we responded too in 2009 is still being worked and placed in the computer for the new VIP Program. As soon as we have the total numbers we responded too, I will send that information out to you. Currently, there are 6 EMTs, 45 Volunteer Firefighters & First Responders, 10 Junior Firefighters, and a Ladies Auxiliary Program that we are very proud of. We are very proud to say that these dedicated members of your community provide emergency protection to you and your family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as Volunteers.

The St. Amant Fire Department continues to operate with one person staffing the Firehouse during the day time when most of our Volunteers are working there regular jobs. Our Volunteers continue to Pre-Plan all our St. Amant business’s twice a year, perform annual hose test and pump test on all the trucks. We are currently operating three fire stations and still in the developing stages of building a fourth station on the Diversion Canal. Our Volunteers also dedicated every Tuesday Night of the month to training on fire and EMS.

    December 1st, 2009

The holiday season is in full swing, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all you done to keep the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department and the Parish of Ascension strong this year. The year 2009 has been full of challenges for all of us. We certainly have not been spared from the dynamic change-taking place all around us in the field of fire service and Emergency Response.

This is the season of the year to take special time for families and friends in the holiday spirit. I hope each of you will use these days to relax, reflect and refresh. The New Year will bring exciting opportunities for the families and leaders of Ascension Parish.

Hope, Derek, Erin, Dane, Dexter, Drake Destiny and Jaxon along with me send our warmest wishes to you and your family for a safe and happy Holiday Season. We again pray for our troops to come home safe.

    ENJOY!

    James E. LeBlanc
